The EAP National Joint Committee (NJC) has sponsored a suicide prevention campaign for the workplace and new material has been made available. Even talking about suicide prevention can be a sensitive and difficult thing to do. But, learning more about suicide and being prepared to get involved can help save a life. Here are the new tools to help you be prepared:
A short video, Removing the Stigma , encourages all employees to break the stigma of mental health and to encourage reaching out to the EAP.
A presentation on suicide prevention, Suicide Prevention in the Workplace, provides education and awareness for employees about suicide prevention for ourselves, friends, families, and co-workers.
Three posters that focus on alcohol abuse awareness , anxiety awareness , and domestic violence awareness . Handouts Break the Stigma of Mental Health and Stand Against Stigma provide understanding on the importance of breaking the stigma to reaching out for mental health help and how we can support this effort.
Advisory Committee questions should be posed to the NJC by calling Dr. Deborah Atkins at 202-268-8708.
Employees, eligible family and household members with questions about program services should call 800-327-4968TTY: 877-492-7341.
